The global technical textiles market is estimated at $193 billion in 2020 and is expected to hit $274 billion by 2027, growing at a compounded annual growth rate of 5.1 per cent during 2020-27, backed by increasing global demand for technical textiles across industry and an expanding base of new products based on application research, says a new report.

India's technical textile market was valued at $14 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach $23.3 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 7.6 per cent, which is among the fastest growth rate in the Asia-Pacific region, according to a report called 'Technical Textiles: Emerging Opportunities and Investments' released by KPMG and FICCI recently.

MMI Textiles, a global diversified supplier of industrial and custom fabrics and textile components with military, tactical, medical, commercial and apparel expertise, is setting up a new 30,000-square-foot production facility in North Carolina to produce select narrow fabrics. Texwipe, a US-based manufacturer of contamination control supplies, will invest more than $4.5 million to locate a manufacturing facility in Mount Airy in in Surry County, generating 33 jobs, North Carolina governor Roy Cooper announced recently.
