Bostik is taking over Edge Adhesives Texas, a complementary asset in hot-melt adhesives and pressure sensitive adhesive tapes for residential construction. The acquisition expands Bostik’s offerings in high performance adhesives in the US. This is in line with Arkema’s strategy of bolt-on acquisitions in adhesives and deliver new products to meet demand.

The deal is expected to close in second-quarter 2021.

Edge Adhesives Texas is a leading developer and manufacturer of innovative adhesive solutions used in residential buildings with annual sales of around US$12 million. The company, which operates a plant in Fort Worth, Texas and has approximately 50 employees, specialises in custom formulations in fast-growing easy-install window, door and roofing applications.

In addition to delivering strong technological, industrial and commercial synergies, the project will enable Bostik to offer its customers an extended range of value-added and sustainable solutions in hot-melt pressure sensitive adhesives.

This bolt-on acquisition is in line with Bostik’s growth strategy in high value-added adhesives and expands its presence in North America.

Building on its unique set of expertise in materials science, Arkema offers a portfolio of first-class technologies to address ever-growing demand for new and sustainable materials. With the ambition to become in 2024 a pure player in specialty materials, the group is structured into three complementary, resilient and highly innovative segments dedicated to specialty materials -adhesive solutions, advanced materials, and coating solutions- accounting for some 82 per cent of group sales, and a well-positioned and competitive intermediates segment. Arkema offers cutting-edge technological solutions to meet the challenges of, among other things, new energies, access to water, recycling, urbanisation and mobility.
