Scott Bader is exhibiting at Composites Europe 2017, being organised during September 19-21 at the Messe Stuttgart venue in Germany. The group will display key products such as structural adhesives, ultra low styrene gelcoats, and pultrusion resins supplied directly and via its European network of national and regional distributor partners.

The full range of structural adhesives and bonding pastes will be on display. This will include recently added shorter fixture time grades of Crestabond MMA primer-less structural adhesives for metal, plastic and composite substrates.

With sustainability a key strategic objective and ongoing project for the Scott Bader Group, the range of Crystic Ecogel ultra low styrene UV resistant Iso and Iso-NPG spray gelcoats for demanding exterior industrial applications is being showcased. This environmentally friendly, weather resistant, gelcoat range now has five product options from 23 per cent styrene content to 0 per cent; Ecogel S0 PA is the ‘zero’ styrene grade, which is already approved and globally used by a major player in the wind turbine energy market.

On display will also be Scott Bader’s complete fire, smoke and toxic fume emission (FST) product range for manufacturing approved fire retardant (FR) matched laminate systems. They have been developed to meet many of the stringent FST specifications for FRP parts used in subterranean passenger rail, land transport, and building and construction applications. The extensive FST range includes: Crystic Fireguard; halogen free FR gelcoats and intumescent topcoat; FST polyester resins and compounds; and FST Crestapol urethane acrylate resin systems, with different grades available for infusion, pultrusion and filament windings processes. All Crestapol resins can be ATH filled with laminate systems meeting many European stringent FST standards rail and building standards.

Crestapol 1250 and other pultrusion resin grades available from Scott Bader, formulated for both wet bath and injection pultruder processing systems will also be promoted at the show. All Crestapol pultrusion resins achieve rapid wet out of reinforcement fibres, and being highly reactive, quickly fully cures at ambient temperature without the need for post curing. The combination of this high reactivity along with the inherent toughness of the cured urethane acrylate resin, means that even when heavily ATH mineral filled for applications needing fire, smoke and toxic fume (FST) retardant properties, there is no loss of pultrusion line speed or mechanical properties.

The expanded GelTint service is being highlighted, which is now available from the UK and six GelTint service centres operated by regional distributor partners across Europe. Each GelTint service centre can rapidly measure and mix single or multiple 20 kilogram keg orders for a pigmented marine grade gelcoat, to a very high level of colour accuracy and keg to keg consistency, delivered within a short lead time depending on customer needs. The extended range of GelTint colours, detailed on the GetTint service website covers the well-established colour charts: RAL, BS 381C, BS 5252, NCS and Scott Bader customer colours. (SV)
