Annual General Body Meeting of ITTA to be held on Sept 27

The second Annual General Body Meeting of The India Technical Textile Association (ITTA) is scheduled to held in Mumbai on Thursday, September 27, 2012.

At this well appointed event, Mr Sujit Gulati, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India will be the Chief Guest. Mr Anil B Joshi, IPS, Textiles Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India will grace as Guest of Honour, informs the official invite.

Talking exclusively to Fibre2fashion, Mrs Shashi Singh, Executive Director, ITTA and retired Joint Commissioner, O/o Textiles Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, informs, “The importance of Technical Textiles is now being realized in our country and it is pertinent to involve all stakeholders and generate ideas and possibilities of furthering the industry prospects as well as our country's progress in promoting this vital sector where ITTA has already taken the lead.”

“ITTA today is a 150-plus member strong organization and we are looking forward to provide all necessary support, partnering with the industry, institutions and Government that will bring to the fore the emerging prospects for this sunrise sector,” she adds.

According to Mrs Singh, there will be an Open House discussion on the Role of ITTA in growth of technical textiles also.

Technical Textiles offers a huge opportunity in India for both local consumption as well for exports. Based on current usage patterns the Domestic Consumption, market alone is expected to exceed US $ 13 billion by 2012/13. (Rs 62000 crores).

Indian Technical Textile Association (ITTA) has a strong support from the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India through the Office of the Textile Commissioner and is involved in promoting and supporting support the growth of this emerging industrial sector, in India.
